Small Bamboo Island’s raw beauty has been preserved and enhanced by the zero-carbon development of a boutique resort with the richest marine life in the region, smart and luxurious, designer bamboo cottages and pavilions, farm-to-table organic food and access to the magnificent South-East Culion Bay.
Situated in the middle of the friendly Calamianes in Palawan, Philippines, located just 28km South of Coron, Bamboo Island is a stone’s throw away from such gems as Ditaytayan Island, Malcapuya Island and the world-class Two Seasons Resort, all easily accessed by boat.
REAL, ZERO CARBON LIVING
Carbon footprint? We choose to have a long-standing partnership with the environment.
Operations are 100% solar-powered. For water, huge rainwater collectors feed our tank. We use eco-smart faucets and showers, and all toilets are flushed with salt water!
We recognise the functional and aesthetic superiority of wood, coco lumber, bamboo, rattan and other locally-relevant materials which are all we use for buildings and furniture.
TRUE FOOD - FARM TO TABLE
We take our food very seriously on the island to give real, flavourful, local and international home- cooking using the best and safest ingredients we know.
We grow our own vegetables, citrus, herbs and poultry and have access to the freshest non-farmed seafood. We cook only with natural and fresh ingredients.
All our meals feature fresh salads and greens and, barbecued or steamed seafood.
Our Sagrada Organic Farm provides herbs, vegetables and fruit which we use profusely in what we cook and drink! Such as lettuce, Mustasa (mustard leaves), Pechay (Petsay or Chinese cabbage), Kangkong (water spinach), basil, mint, chives, parsley, coriander/cilantro, lemongrass, Kalamansi and Dayap (local lime), Sili (chili peppers, cayenne, finger peppers, capsicum varieties), Sitaw (string beans), Sitsaro (snow peas), Ampalaya (bitter melon), Talong (eggplant), Mais (corn), Kamote and Kamoteng Kahoy (sweet potato and cassava), watermelon, Lacatan and Saba banana varieties, pineapple, Langka (jackfruit) as well as Kasoy (cashew), coconut, barako coffee and wild honey.
The farm is cared for by Datchi and Rudy, 100% pesticide free and watered with fresh spring water daily.
BAHAY KUBOS -
Bamboo island offers you eight charming Bahay kubos, thatched roof huts made from bamboo and cogon, with rattan detail. Each one comes with a balcony and a stunning view of the beach and reef.
Our uniquely-designed bamboo huts have all the island life luxuries anyone would demand.
Life on the island revolves around the spacious, open-air main pavilion, situated right on the beach, featuring a sunset lounge, a reggae bar, an award-winning kitchen and dining areas, all commanding views of the surrounding waters, islands and mountainscapes.
